Kids First Family Resource Centre
27 St.Andrews St., Antigonish

When you or your child has an illness that is contagious, please do not come to the
centre. This includes if your child has a fever, vomiting, chicken pox, mumps,
rash, strep throat, diarrhea, measles, impetigo, pinkeye, scabies or head lice.

Kids First is a registered, non-profit organization and your donations are greatly appreciated!

With the re-emergence of measles in several Canadian communities, it is more important than ever to get the facts about immunization.  Diseases such as this are highly contagious and can lead to serious health problems, permanent disability, and even death.  Vaccination is still the best way to prevent such diseases; in addition it helps protect those around us who may have compromised immune systems and are not able to receive the vaccine.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) would appreciate your help in raising awareness about vaccines and immunization.  Please feel welcome to pass this information on to your organization’s members, post on your website, and share through social media or on bulletin boards.

Information, tips, and links:

  • Visit the PHAC Website for an overview of information and resources, as well as links to other useful sites.
  • Check out the Vaccination for Children section of to find information for parents, caregivers and health professionals.
  • Find out about Vaccine safety, including how vaccines are studied and approved, as well as answers to commonly asked questions.
  • Read the Public Health Notice on Measles for an update on the recent outbreaks, risk factors, and the recommended vaccine schedule.
  • Visit the Travel Health and Safety page on for travel health notices, as well as recommended vaccines for travellers and how to find vaccination clinics.
  • Download ImmunizaCA, a free mobile vaccine application tool that will help you manage your family's vaccination records.

Over the last 50 years, immunization has saved more lives than any other health measure. Thank you for helping to spread the word about this important subject.
